Bellono Aquatics Facility at Harvard University

Harvard University's Bellono Lab focuses on how animals adapt to their environments by uncovering the molecular mechanisms behind unusual sensory abilities and behaviors. By studying a wide range of organisms-such as octopuses, sea robins and sea slugs-the lab uses biodiversity as a powerful tool to reveal core principles of biology, evolution, and neuroscience. Their work centers on how receptors, ion channels and signaling pathways translate environmental cues into biological responses. Here, Moving Waters fabricated the entire lab which included custom racks, environmental pools, custom life support systems, and APEX monitoring.

Girguis Lab at Harvard University

Harvard University's Girguis Lab explores how marine organisms and microbes survive and function in some of the most extreme environments on Earth, particularly in the deep sea and around hydrothermal vents. The lab examines how these organisms adapt to harsh conditions, how microbes drive major chemical processes in the ocean, and how close partnerships between animals and microbes support life where energy is scarce.  Moving Waters replaced old pumps, piping and valves. We removed the old processing controls and installed a new APEX monitoring system. We even went out to Girguis Lab's at-sea research lab to plumb all of the holding tanks and pumps.
